Lice Policy

Lowell Public Schools have a no lice policy. Children must stay home if they have lice. Children must be treated, lice-free and checked by the School Nurse before coming back to school.

Prevention is the key to controlling this pesky problem. Please inspect your child’s hair frequently and call the school nurse if you have any questions.

The most common sign of head lice is itching and head scratching.  You may also see red bite marks or sores. If you think your child might have lice, please contact your doctor or the school nurse.

Safe and effective products to treat head lice are available both over the counter and by doctor’s prescription. It is important to follow the directions carefully.
