Residential Recycling Drop-Off Container

The City of Lowell has located a drop-off container at the City's Department of Public Works which is accessible Monday through Saturday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (except holidays).

Recyclable Items

Please feel free to bring in the following CLEAN material for recycling:

  • Aluminum
  • Bottles
  • Brochures
  • Cardboard (flattened)
  • Catalogues
  • Glass
  • Junk Mail
  • Magazines
  • Newspaper (and inserts)
  • Office / computer paper
  • Paperboard (e.g., cereal and tissue boxes)
  • Pizza boxes (clean and empty - not overly greasy boxes please!)
  • Phone books
  • Plastics (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5 & #7)  no #6 EPS (Styrofoam)
  • Steel... No metal coat hangers
  • Tin

Please do not bring any of the following:

  • Cartons (milk, juice and broth)
  • Plastic Bags
  • Strapping
  • Styrofoam
  • Wood (shelves, boards, particle board, crates etc.)
Note: Large cardboard pieces must be flattened, do not bundle.

Leaving material outside the container(s) -on the ground, shall be considered ILLEGAL DUMPING and is punishable by fines of $200 to $300.
