The Lowell Regional Wastewater Utility (LRWWU) Administration is responsible for all ongoing projects, budgets, payrolls, and purchasing. Most communication goes through Administration, including questions from the public in regards to billing, odor complaints, and residential sewer issues.
LRWWU's Laboratory performs water quality analyses for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit to the Merrimack River. The Laboratory also performs similar tests for Operations Process Control, as well as the Industrial Pretreatment Program.
Duck Island Wastewater Treatment Facility Operations
The Operations Division at LRWWU manages the transport and treatment processes associated with the Duck Island Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). Operations ensures the effective treatment of all wastewater in order to meet the LRWWU's NPDES Permit.
Operations accomplishes this goal by making process control decisions, collecting and testing plant samples, ordering and maintaining the associated treatment process chemicals, and monitoring plant equipment and remote stations using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.
