You can not request an appeal of a traffic citation at the Police station. Instead, please look on the back of the citation you received, and you will see that it clearly explains the options available to you on how to handle the citation.
You have the right to request a hearing, but only have 20 days to submit it to the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV). After that time, you will be responsible for the full ticket amount.
