Councilor Nuon lives in Lowell with my wife, Navey, and two children, Nathan, and Nadya. In 1991, Councilor Nuon joined the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office as a Victim Witness Advocate & Cultural Consultant.

In 2000, he was appointed by Governor Paul Cellucci to a full-time position on the state Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB) where he is responsible for conducting hearings and decide of final registration status and classification of convicted sex offenders in the Commonwealth, developing policy and procedures for registration, classification, and community notification. He was reappointed to the SORB by then Governors Mitt Romney, Deval Patrick, and then Charlie Baker.

Aside from his full-time job, Councilor Nuon community involvements and volunteers include founder of Southeast Asian Families Against Domestic Violence in Lowell, Co-founder of Cambodian American League of Lowell, former board member of the United Teens Equality Center (UTEC), former board member of Greater of Lowell Chamber of Commerce, and more. He also served on the Lowell Zoning Board of Appeals for more than ten years. Currently C. Nuon serves on the Lowell City Council as At Large City Councilor.

Many people work hard to better their community without fanfare or recognition. Councilor Nuon has been very fortunate and humbled by his fellow community activists who have recognized him. For example, he received the World Foundation for Asia Community Service Award in 2011; the Cambodian American League of Lowell Community Service Award, 2001; the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, 2000; the Southeast Asian Families Against Domestic Violence Award, 2001; the Middlesex District Attorney’s Martha Coakley Award, 2000; the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence for Personal Courage, 1999; the Lowell Sun’s People to be Thankful for, 1997; the Boston University School of Social Work for Leadership & Empowerment, 1994; the Middlesex District Attorney’s Scott Harshbarger Award, 1993; the National Association for Education and Advancement for Asian Leadership Award, 1993; and the Cambodian Community Leadership Award, 1992.
