Karen Cirillo

City Council
Title: Councilor
Phone: 978-674-4040

Karen A. Cirillo is serving her first term on the Lowell City Council. She has been a resident of Lowell for eight years. When Councilor Cirillo first moved to Lowell, she lived in the Highlands section and now resides in the Centralville section of the City with her wonderful daughter Madison and their two dogs Gino and Kai.

Councilor Cirillo is the daughter of Joseph Cirillo and Helen Costello both of whom are retired from the Department of the Navy at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island and Sarah and John Rivard of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. She is one of three children with two older siblings.

Councilor Cirillo has been in the construction field for nearly twenty years and in this time she has worked on projects as small as one room renovations and as large as building multiple cogeneration plants in the desert of California. She currently works in the Estimating Department of a Construction Manager in Medford, MA.

Councilor Cirillo volunteered with the Budget Buddies program as a personal financial coach to aid the women of House of Hope in learning to become more economically self-sufficient and help teach them money-management skills. Councilor Cirillo attributes this want in helping others be independent to her grandmother Mary Cirillo, who from the 1950s through the 1980s owned and operated her own clothing store in Bristol, Rhode Island. Mary was a strong, independent, and goodhearted woman who saw to her customer’s needs before her own. She hopes to bring this influence to her seat on City Council.
