Lowell Regional Water Utility will be performing yearly hydrant flushing in the Highlands section of the city. Please be advised during the flushing of hydrants, residents may experience a drop in water pressure as well as some discoloration of the water during this process.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for our residents. However, this very important system maintenance procedure that is conducted each spring/summer. The flushing program allows the pipes to be purposed and the hydrants are checked for proper operation.
Although waster is safe to use during this time, Residents should refrain from doing laundry when water is discolored and also avoid running hot water, as sediments can accumulate in the your water heater. Following hydrant flushing in your area, you should run the cold water at a pencil width stream until water runs clear before returning to normal use.
