Economic Development- Supporting Cultural Events

These ARPA investments will support Non-Profit Festivals & Events Grant Program, helping them to address financial challenges caused by the pandemic and to make investments in COVID-19 prevention and mitigation tactics, as well as to provide technical assistance. The City will employ a broad array of grants, in-kind assistance, and counseling programs to enable to rebound from the downturn. A priority will be placed on speeding the recovery of the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors, supporting industries that were particularly hard-hit by the COVID-19 emergency and are just now beginning to mend.

2022 -2023 Summer Arts & Cultural Festivals 


Lowell's Cultural Affairs & Special Events office (CASE) is working with other local vendors, artists, and performers, to bring back many of the cultural festivals, which are a critical part of Lowell's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.  Supporting the 2022 summer Arts & Cultural festival season will provide local artisans with an opportunity to showcase their talents after a two-year hiatus.  The summer Arts & Cultural festival season drives tourism to the City of Lowell, which in turn provides income opportunities for artisans and local businesses alike, through increased foot traffic.

Lowell's Cultural Affairs & Special Events office (CASE) is working with other local vendors, artists, and performers, to continue bringing back cultural festivals, which are a critical part of Lowell's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.  Supporting the 2022 winter Arts & Cultural festival season will provide local artisans with an opportunity to showcase their talents after a two-year hiatus.  The winter Arts & Cultural festival season will continue driving tourism throughout the winter months (and specifically during the holiday season) with engaging outdoor activities throughout the City of Lowell.  In continuing these activities, the increased foot traffic will provide additional income opportunities for local small businesses and assist in the overall recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lowell Folk Festival provides unique experiences to hear Festival artists from diverse cultural backgrounds explore the connections, similarities, and differences in their musical journeys.  These moderated talk/demonstration sessions allow festivalgoers a more intimate interaction with the musicians




 








The Lowell Southeast Asian Water Festival is dedicated to the preservation, protection and sharing of cultural heritages of the Southeast Asian American in the Greater Lowell Area of Massachusetts.


















Winterfest is all about shaking off those wintertime blues and celebrating right in heart of Downtown Lowell. Live Music, Entertainment, Family Fun, Scavenger Hunt, Fire Sculpture, Soup Bowl Competition, Food Truck, Axe Throwing, Ice Carving, Arts Market and Chocolate Festival.
