Permit Parking Information
Residential Reserved Parking Sign
Homeowners in the City of Lowell are allowed to apply for a reserved parking sign (Restrictions apply). This sign can be mounted on your fence or house along the street of your property and gives you a 20-foot parking spot reserved for your house only. Please note that this reserved spot is available to every car registered to that property. Please visit the Downtown Parking Department Office at 75 John St. to apply or renew your Reserved Parking Sign. (You can download the APPLICATION, and RULES here). Only the property owner is allowed to obtain the sign, or designate, with Designate Form filled out and signed by owner.

Residential Parking Permit
Many of Lowell’s neighborhoods have residential parking only zones. Residents living in these zones are required to apply for a residential parking sticker. The Residential Parking Sicker is issued at the City of Lowell Parking Office at 75 John St. in downtown Lowell. Residency documentation is required. Temporary Visitor Passes are available at request. (Get the application)

Landlord Parking Permit
If you are a landlord with a property in a residential zoned neighborhood, there are additional parking options for you. Contact the City of Lowell Parking Department (978) 674-4014 to learn more about landlord parking permits. All landlord stickers can be applied for and received at the downtown City of Lowell Parking office at 75 John St., Lowell, MA 01852. (Get the application)

Contractor Parking Permit
If you are a contractor working on a building in the city of Lowell, us must have a contractor permit which allow on-street parking of construction vehicles.

Healthcare Visit Permit
This permit is required for healthcare personnel to park within a residential neighborhood but is not valid for parking within the downtown business zone. The permit is taken out by the company providing the healthcare services.

Used when a resident is having a daytime service call to the property and the service vehicle will need on-street parking.

Rent a Space (Meter Bag)
If you are working in the downtown area and need to have your work vehicle close to your place of business, you may rent a meter / space bag for a $14 daily fee (per space fee). You can pay and receive the meter bag at the City of Lowell Parking Office at 85 John St., Lowell, MA 01852 (A $50 refundable deposit (per space fee) is required at the time of rental)
