All wood stoves must have a
building permit.
Apply for a Wood Stove Permit
When you apply for the permit, you should submit a copy of the manufacturer's installation instructions. These must show required clearances to combustible materials. Installation must be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Also, the wood stove must be labeled either by Underwriters' Laboratory (U.L.) or another accredited laboratory.
